Plot

When Tyler enters the same art competition as Avery, Avery accuses him of only doing it for the money. However, when Avery accidentally breaks Tyler’s sculpture, she realizes just how much his work really means to him. Tyler breaks Avery's painting in turn.

Meanwhile, Ellen is upset because she believes Bennett doesn't think she is pretty, and is spending more time with Karl so her beauty can be "appreciated". Stan helps out with Chloe's piece in the same art competition Tyler and Avery are in.

Trivia

  • Chloe and Stan's appearance as they stand behind a frame resembles the painting American Gothic by Grant Wood.
  • Stan saying to Avery "You did good kid" after she confesses to Tyler about destroying his sculpture is a reference to Mickey's line from Rocky 3.

Quotes

  • Stan: Hey Avery, how's it going? Oh, you're working on your painting for the Youth Art Competition?
